Frequently Asked Questions

How much do braces cost?

The cost of orthodontic treatment will depend on many factors and it is impossible to give an exact cost until we examine you.  The severity of the problem, the complexity and length of treatment time are considered when determining the fee.

We have a variety of convenient payment plans and many dental insurance plans include orthodontic benefits. We will be happy to discuss the cost with you before treatment begins.

When you consider the lifetime benefits of braces, they are truly a great value.

How long will I have to wear braces?

Treatment time depends on each patient’s specific problem.  Every case is different and treatment time depends on the severity of the problem and how well the patient cooperates with keeping appointments and following instructions.

How often will I have appointments?

Appointments are scheduled according to each patients needs.  Most patients are seen every four to six weeks.

Do I need to see my family dentist while in braces?

It is important to visit your family dentist at regular intervals while you are in braces.  Your dentist will provide cleanings and checkups for you.

Does the doctor run on time?

With cooperation from patients, for example arriving on time and not having loose or broken braces, the doctor does run on time for the most part.

Are there foods I should not eat while I have braces?

Once treatment begins, we will go over a list of foods to stay away from.  Hard foods such as ice, hard candy, and raw vegetables, and sticky foods like caramel, gum, and taffy can damage braces.  See the Orthodontic Information section for more specifics on foods that you can and can not eat.
